WHAT IS SALON?
Salon: Slugtown Fundraiser 2025 is an online auction, with over 70 works kindly donated by some of the UKs most exciting artists.
The auction opens on Friday 21 November 2025, running for two weeks, and will close at 21:00 GMT on Friday 5 December 2025.
WHAT WILL I BE SUPPORTING?
Salon will help support our future programme of exhibitions, projects, and SlugClub – our free art club for children in the east end of Newcastle.
As an artist-led nonprofit gallery and Community Interest Company, we are passionate about creating space for emerging artists, communities and new audiences to connect and engage through contemporary art. We are committed to curating a programme that forefronts experimental, challenging and pioneering artwork, and making that accessible to all.
Your support to our fundraiser will help us:
- Commission and exhibit new work by emerging artists
- Keep engaging new audiences through SlugClub and help it thrive
- Continue to run a programme of free exhibitions, events and workshops for everyone.

WHAT IS SLUGCLUB?
SlugClub is a free art club for young people in the east end of Newcastle.
SlugClub began in the summer of 2022, and was designed to get young people interested in, engaged with, and making contemporary art.
Each month a practicing contemporary artist designs a task that is then facilitated in two primary school after school clubs, and a youth programme. Asking a different artist to design a task each month keeps the workshops exciting and introduces new skills and artworks to participants.
Twice a year all the work made in workshops is collated and exhibited in pop up exhibitions at the gallery.
Our two-fold approach is to both make the workshops fun, sociable and collaborative, and the exhibitions impressive and inspiring.
Each summer we also run a SlugClub Summer Project! These run for 1-2 weeks and involve a series of themed workshops! This years was called The Beautiful Game – all about football and art. Previous iterations were Our Corner of Paradise and Company – focussing on local green spaces and the environment, and bread and baking respectively.
